LOGO-ACCREDITATIONS

If you love photography and you want to grow with purpose, our BPA Accreditations are for you. They are built around community learning, practical feedback, and steady progression. There are three levels, so you always know what you are working towards next, and you can move forward at your own pace. Many members begin here, then step into Licentiate, Associate, and Fellowship as their confidence and consistency develop.

Our Accreditation pathway is designed to bridge the gap from camera club level into BPA Accreditations and Distinctions, giving you a clear route to progress step by step, all the way through to Fellowship if that is the level you choose to reach. Our Accreditation judges are hand picked for both their judging skill and their temperament. They bring years of experience from the camera club circuit, including PAGB trained judges and trainers.

Level-One-Accreditaitons

Level One

Designed for photographers who want clear direction and a supportive first milestone. It focuses on strong fundamentals, clean technique, and consistency across a small set of images. This level is about building confidence and learning what judges look for, without needing advanced concepts or heavy production.

Submission

Submit 10 images that show control of focus, exposure, colour, and basic composition. Your set should feel intentional and consistent, rather than ten unrelated experiments.

What we are looking for

Clean technical foundations, good subject choice, simple but effective composition, and evidence that you can repeat results.

Level-two-Accreditaitons

Level Two

For photographers who have the basics in place and want to strengthen their storytelling and refinement. The standard is higher, and we expect more consistency across the set, with stronger finishing and more deliberate creative choices.

Submission

Submit 15 images that demonstrate consistent technique and a clearer sense of purpose. The set should show variety, but still feel cohesive in quality and presentation.

What we are looking for

Improved control of light, stronger editing decisions, better consistency across the set, and images that feel more considered and complete.

Level-three-Accreditaitons

Level Three

The final step before BPA Distinctions. It is designed for enthusiasts who want their work to read as confident, polished, and ready to move into formal qualification. The standard is close to Licentiate, with a focus on consistency, presentation, and repeatable quality.

Submission

Submit 20 images that show a strong, consistent standard across the full set. Your work should feel finished, with careful attention to detail and presentation.

What we are looking for

High consistency, confident lighting and composition choices, strong finishing, and a set that feels cohesive and intentional.

Categories

 ADVERTISING AND COMMERCIAL

This category is designed for commercial use in promoting, marketing, or advertising a product, brand, service, or individual. It includes aerial, automotive, food, product, still life, personal branding, music covers, and corporate photography. Both composite and non-composite images, as well as retouched images, are permitted within this category.  Images must not contain any text or graphic elements that were not part of the original capture.

 ARCHITECTURAL & INDUSTRIAL

Architectural entries are designed to accurately document structures while also embracing artistic approaches, such as capturing distinctive angles or creating abstract images from the building's form.  In contrast, industrial photography specifically caters to businesses in the industrial sector, serving engineering firms, manufacturers, factories, and high-tech startups with precision and expertise.

 CLASSICAL WEDDING

Images should be taken during the wedding celebration, whether it’s a single-day or multi-day event, capturing the atmosphere and personalities while highlighting the photographer's creativity, posing, technical skills, and light management. Minor retouching, cropping, colour adjustments, and cleaning are allowed, as well as the use of HDR for a broader tonal range.

Composite Creation

Images created by combining multiple elements into one finished piece, where the final result is the main focus. This includes fantasy scenes, conceptual portraits, and advanced digital art, using your own assets or permitted stock where appropriate. Entries should show believable lighting, perspective, and seamless blending, with a clear creative intent.

Documentary

Images that tell a true story, capturing real moments with honesty and respect. This includes reportage, street, events, social documentary, and behind the scenes work where the scene is not staged. Entries should show strong timing, clear storytelling, and a sensitive, authentic approach to the subject.

Documentary Wedding

Wedding storytelling captured as it happens, with minimal direction and an emphasis on real moments. This includes candid preparations, ceremony, reactions, and reception scenes that build a truthful narrative of the day. Entries should show strong anticipation, clean composition, and consistent, natural finishing.

ENVIRONMENTAL PORTRAIT

Portraits that place the subject in a meaningful setting that adds context to who they are or what they do. This includes people photographed at work, at home, or in a location that supports the story, with the environment treated as part of the composition. Entries should show strong subject connection, purposeful background choices, and controlled light.

Fashion and Beauty

Images focused on style, hair, make up, and presentation, from editorial fashion to beauty close ups. This includes studio and location work where posing, styling, and finishing are central to the result. Entries should show flattering light, strong styling choices, and clean, professional retouching.

FINE ART

A fine art portrait is created by an artist, not just taken by the camera. The photographer's vision is essential to the final image and should also demonstrate exemplary post-production techniques in the final image.

Landscape

Images that celebrate the natural world and the sense of place, from wide vistas to intimate scenes. This includes seascapes, mountains, woodland, and rural landscapes, captured in any light or season. Entries should show strong composition, careful tonal control, and a natural looking finish that supports the mood.

Macro

Close up images that reveal fine detail, texture, and small scale subjects in a way the eye does not normally see. This includes insects, flowers, product details, and abstract macro work, captured in camera or with focus stacking where appropriate. Entries should show crisp detail where it matters, controlled depth of field, and clean backgrounds.

Natural World

Images of wildlife and nature, captured with respect for the subject and its environment. This includes mammals, birds, insects, and behaviour in the wild, as well as nature details that tell a story. Entries should show strong fieldcraft, clean detail, and a natural finish without heavy handed processing.

Newborn

Images of newborn babies created with care, safety, and gentle handling as the priority. This includes posed newborn portraits, lifestyle newborn sessions, and parent and baby images, with simple styling and a calm, clean finish. Entries should show safe posing, flattering light, and sensitive retouching that keeps skin natural.

Pets and Domesticated Animals

Images celebrating the character and connection of pets and working domesticated animals. This includes studio and location portraits, action, and owner and pet storytelling. Entries should show sharp focus on the eyes, flattering light, and clean finishing that keeps fur texture natural.

Portrait and Digital Creation

Portraits where digital creation is part of the concept, combining photography with added elements to build a finished scene. This includes creative composites, AI generated elements, and purchased stock elements, provided they support the author’s main body of work. Entries should show believable integration, consistent lighting, and a portrait that remains the clear focal point.

Press and PR

Images created for editorial, media, and public relations use, where clarity and communication matter most. This includes press portraits, red carpet and event coverage, corporate announcements, and behind the scenes imagery for publication. Entries should be clean, well timed, and professionally finished, with accurate colour and strong subject emphasis.

Sport

Images capturing athletic performance, competition, and decisive moments, from grassroots to professional level. This includes action, celebration, team storytelling, and sport portraits where timing and anticipation are key. Entries should show sharp subject separation, controlled motion, and clean backgrounds that keep the attention on the moment.

Street Photography

Candid images made in public spaces that capture everyday life, character, and moments of human interest. This includes urban scenes, gestures, light and shadow studies, and spontaneous storytelling without directing the subject. Entries should show strong timing, confident composition, and an authentic feel with thoughtful finishing.
